Yoga for Osteoporosis with Samana

The class focuses on yoga poses researched and shown to improve bone density in the hips and spine based on the Fishman Method for Osteoporosis.

Focal points are posture, back and hip strengthening, core strengthening, balance for fall prevention and body awareness. The class is a safe option for those with bone loss or hoping to prevent bone loss and postural changes which happen with aging.  Participants walk away with improved posture, body awareness and safe practice ideas based on research to target bone health.

Samana Lake, PT, CYT, BSPTS certified therapist for scoliosis, instructs this class, leading participants in safe, effective practices to improve their posture, bone health, spinal alignment, and trunk strength. She teaches them safe ways to move in their daily routine. Samana has been teaching yoga since 2003 and loves empowering her students with practices to help them feel better, look better, and move more easily in their lives while protecting the spine as they age. Yoga for Bone health and posture is Samana's key area of interest, as this serves as a complement to her physical therapy practice, which focuses on spine care.
